The Way Prevention and Treatment – Clinical Counseling Center offers affordable counseling services to the San Fernando Valley community. Our dedicated interns and paraprofessionals provide treatment in a warm and caring environment.

The Way Prevention: Profiles, Ana Chavez-Mancillas

Ana L. Chavez-Mancillas, DSW, MSW

Dr. Chavez-Mancillas received her doctorate from the University of Southern California.  She has 20+ years of experience providing bilingual and bicultural mental health and substance abuse services to children and families.  Over the years she has served in various roles, including substance abuse counselor/specialist, case manager, therapist, program coordinator, team supervisor, and Program Director. 

Dr. Chavez-Mancillas has 10+ years of experience supervising and managing teams, she is a collaborative leader with expertise in mental health, substance abuse, and team management. She has a Certification and an AS in Substance Abuse and Alcohol Counseling from Mount San Antonio College.  She is a 2021 Fellow graduate from the National Hispanic and Latino Executive Leadership and Fellowship Program. She came to the United States in 1985 from Guatemala not speaking a word of English and has been living in California ever since.  She has 24+ years in recovery and strives to help others not only with substance abuse issues but also other mental health issues as she fully understands that these issues more times than not go together hand in hand.

Hector Mancillas, M.Div.

Hector Mancillas, M.Div. is an ordained pastor, educator, and spiritual leader with over 25 years of experience. He excels in education, missionary work, parish ministry, and pastoral care, offering guidance in spiritual journey counseling, pre-marital counseling, conflict resolution, and more. Hector is fluent in Spanish and passionate about missionary outreach and community engagement.

He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and currently serves as a hospice chaplain. He has previously served as senior pastor, co-pastor, associate pastor, and mental health worker. His extensive background includes teaching at theological seminaries and certification in counseling and community development programs.

Prevention Education and OutreachDevelop and implement educational programs in the community to raise awareness about domestic violence and promote healthy relationships.
Comprehensive Treatment ServicesOffer a range of therapeutic services, including individual counseling, support groups, and trauma-informed care for survivors and perpetrators of domestic violence.

Provide specialized programs for children and adolescents who have witnessed or experienced domestic violence.
Community Engagement and AdvocacyFoster a network of support by collaborating with other agencies, service providers, and community organizations.
